60% or higher in 922-011 LaTrobe-Spanish Advanced 2B or 922-215 LaTrobe-Post Intermediate Spanish A or 922-012 LaTrobe-Latin America Today or 922-015 LaTrobe-Study Abroad Spain or 922-016 LaTrobe-Spain Today or 922-020 LaTrobe-Contemporary Hispanic Literature or approval of the subject coordinator.

The emphasis in this subject is on the writing of some of the major contemporary women writers of Spain and Latin America. Consideration will be given to the literary and theoretical trends which underpin the texts to be studied, and also to the socio-historical and cultural contexts within which the authors are writing.

Two 1500 to 2000-word essays 80% and a 15 to 20-minute oral 20%. For 4th-year students greater achievement and application of research skills and a longer presentation will be required.
