Subject Description

In this subject students will be introduced to various research methodologies appropriate to research in the creative arts. These will include processes and techniques associated with selecting and refining a research problem; the means of identifying the current state of research in the field of study; data identification and collection; information analysis and synthesis; and selection of appropriate means of disseminating research findings.

Assessment

Students will be expected to present seminars documenting the progress of their honours year, a research project and their research findings. They will be required to produce an annotated bibliography equivalent to 1000 words 25% (due week 6); a critical evaluation of research methodologies equivalent to 1000 words 25% (due week 10); and a detailed research plan and seminar presentation equivalent to 3000 words 50% (due at the end of semester). A hurdle requirement of a minimum 80% attendance required.
