Subject Description

Students of this subject will inquire into recent developments in poetic practice and poetics. Students will read a variety of poetic texts and recent works on poetics. The subject will also involve intensive workshopping of students' own poetry with focus on development of a distinctive voice and approach.

Assessment

Written work equivalent to 4000 words. Poetry equivalent to 3000 words 80% (half due mid semester, remainder due end of semester), personal poetics paper 1000 words 10% (due end of semester). A 30-minute class presentation (as scheduled during the semester) and participation in workshops/ exercises 10%.
