Subject Description | This unit aims to develop modes of inquiry specific to visual media, research skills and processes, and establish a critical dialogue between theory and practice. The lecture program and practical workshops engage students with visual languages in the context of specific imaging problems. Design fundamentals, visual literacy and semiotic analysis provide the fundamental visual understandings required across Visual Media. The unit interrogates the issues involved in contemporary image making. Gallery visits, guest lectures and excursions are included in the program. |

Assessment | A 10-minute oral/visual presentation 20% (due mid-semester), a concepts test 20% (due at the end of semester) and a folio of 3000 words 60% (due at the end of semester). A hurdle requirement of a minimum of 80% attendance required. |
