Subject Description | This subject is a studio-based program combining self-initiated activity with some structured classes in painting and other media. Students are encouraged to systematically explore their ideas and to investigate a range of materials and processes through experimentation. Students are called upon to articulate and discuss their work in consultation with staff in regular individual and group tutorials. Professional Practice introduces students to the tools, skills and techniques of traditional painting methods and material, as well as materials, processes and methodologies employed in the broader range of contemporary art practice. A thorough understanding of good health and safety practices is also emphasized at this level. |
Assessment | Assessment is based on a substantial folio of work demonstrating the range of the student's activities during the semester, including any group of finished works, support work, drawings, journals/sketchbooks, etc. and any other material the student chooses to submit (100%). |
