Subject Description

Students will engage in a program of practical study appropriate to the final year of tuition and working towards the end-of-year examination. Vocal and instrumental students will further develop their technique and repertoire and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied with an individually designed program of repertoire.

On completion of the subject, students should be able to • perform technically based repertoire with fluency • identify and develop musically appropriate solutions for technical difficulties • evaluate and respond to technical demands in selected repertoire • respond with musical understanding to the aesthetic qualities of technical repertoire.

Assessment

A 15-minute technical examination at the end of the semester of approved technical repertoire (50%); teacher's report and mark indicating progress made towards the end-of-year examination (40%); attendance at instrumental or vocal class and attendance at concert class (10%). Students must pass all components of assessment to pass subject.
