Subject Description

Students continue in their allocated stream, and will engage in a program of practical study appropriate to the second year and working towards the end of year examination. Vocal and instrumental students will further develop their technique and repertoire and awareness of the stylistic and interpretative characteristics of the repertory studied with an individually designed program of repertoire.

On completion of the subject, students should be able to • perform technically based repertoire with increasing fluency and assurance • identify and develop musical solutions for technical difficulties • evaluate and develop strategies for technical demands in selected repertoire • respond musically to the aesthetic qualities of technical repertoire.

Assessment

A 15-minute technical examination at the end of the semester of approved technical repertoire (50%); teacher's report and mark indicating progress made towards the end of year examination (40%); attendance at instrumental or vocal class and attendance at concert class (10%). Students must pass all components of assessment to pass subject.
