Subject Description | Students will develop their skills in chamber music ensemble performance and their knowledge of the chamber orchestra repertoire. On completion of this subject students will be able to • show technical development as chamber orchestra players • perform selected repertoire to a professional performance standard • demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently in matters of style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending, instrumental craft and musical gesture • identify the broad and diverse cultural references of the chamber orchestra literature • apply leadership and solo skills as demonstrated by a leading professional role model · learn refined and exacting teamwork skills in rehearsal and performance situations • understand the importance of thorough individual preparation. |
Assessment | Satisfactory attendance and participation in rehearsals (50%); participation in concert (50%). |
