Subject Description

The subject provides an overview of contemporary developments in computer aided design technologies and in architecture. A range of digital modelling applications for both design representation and design exploration will be introduced.

On completion of the subject students should be able to:

  • Understand the possibilities and limitations of the different types of digital modelling applications that are available.

  • Use digital modelling applications to represent and explore design possibilities.

  • Share and exchange data between different digital modelling applications.

Generic Skills

On completion of the subject students should have developed the following skills and capabilities:

  • Ability to describe a design using 2D and 3D graphics.

  • A working knowledge of basic computer skills including email, word-processing, internet browsing, saving and transferring computer files.

Assessment

Satisfactory completion of assigned project work (100%) to the equivalent of 5000 words..
