Subject Description | This subject deals with plant function in relation to the changing physical environment - essential study for students of basic molecular sciences with an interest in plant performance in the natural environment, and for students of ecology, forestry and environmental science with an interest in the function of plants and the detection of the physical environment. The practical component of the subject will introduce students to state-of-the-art methods for environmental monitoring using data acquisition systems and a range of environmental sensors. Emphasis will be placed on sampling strategies and data processing. Topics to be covered will be selected from the following:

Assessment | Laboratory test during the semester (10%); practical reports totalling up to 2000 words due during the semester (20%); a 2-hour written examination in the examination period (70%). |
