Subject Description | This subject will introduce students to identifying and classifying micro- and macroalgae from marine and freshwater habitats; identifying and characterising algal pigments; and the use of light and electron microscopes for studying microalgae. Fieldwork along the Victorian coast will focus on the identification and ecology of Australia's unique seaweed flora. Topics to be covered include:

Assessment | Two 2-hour laboratory examinations held during the semester (25% each); a 3-hour written examination at the conclusion of the subject (50%). |
