Subject Description | This subject examines neuropsychological, biological, social, emotional and cognitive factors that influence development in infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood. The focus is on development of cognitive, language, problem-solving and reasoning competencies, and the development of social and emotional functioning. Contemporary theories and historical accounts of development are reviewed with an emphasis on the ways they account for stability and change in developmental processes. |
Generic Skills | Students will further develop generic skills in: analysing research literature; interpreting research data; evaluating research methodology; and writing reports. |
Assessment | One two-hour examination (60%) and laboratory reports of not more than 2000 words (40%). Each piece of assessment must be completed (hurdle requirement). Attendance at 80% or more of the laboratory classes is a hurdle requirement. In case of failure to meet the hurdle requirement, additional work will be required before a passing grade can be awarded. |
