Subject Description

This subject is comprised of 3 modules.

Management of Compromised Patients: Management of patients with speech pathology; cardiovascular conditions; respiratory disease; endocrine, haematological, neurological, psychiatric and neoplastic disoders; and intellectual, physical and sensory disabilities.

Oral Biology: Molecular nature of odontogenesis and biomineralisation, calcium phosphate chemistry and oral diseases and mucosal immunity including periodontal diseases; history taking, examination, diagnosis and treatment planning in the clinical context.

Assessment

(1) One 2-hour written examination at the end of second semester and (2) An interactive presentation together with a written report at the end of the semester. A pass in each of Sections 1 and 2 is required for an overall pass in this subject.
