Subject Description

Students will study teaching and learning in secondary school Physical Education with a focus on student-centred, inquiry-based approaches to games and sport pedagogy. Learning in the subject is practice based through the application of learning theory, planning, management strategies and the evaluation of learning to teaching in secondary schools. The subject combines theoretical and practical issues in planning for learning from the Victorian Essential Learning Framework (VELS) and VCE curricula documents and covers issues of organisation, safety and learning in the outdoors.

Note: To be eligible for assessment in this subject, students must produce documented evidence of holding a current Level 2 First Aid qualification and a current Austswim Teacher of Swimming certificate.

Assessment

Assignments totalling 4000 words.
