Subject Description | This subject explores the concepts of work and technology in the context of the post-industrial workplace. Theories of the workplace are explored in order to contrast the changing nature of modern workplace systems with the traditional industrial perspective underpinning traditional approaches to HRD. The impact of technology on the concept of work, the changing nature of work and workplace systems are considered. Essentialist and anti-essentialist theories of technology are used to address issues such as opposition to technology. Consideration is given to theoretical approaches incorporating technological change into workplace systems. |
