Subject Description

This subject involves a review of recent critical and theoretical literature relating to issues of learning, adult education and training. It will be located in recent national and international policy contexts, and especially the broad policy that are encompassed in the concept of lifelong learning. The content will change each semester in order to remain current within the context of the developing policies, changing practices and new research. Topics will include employment and work patterns and contexts, trends in skills demand and application; the nature, creation and ownership of work and industrial knowledge and skills. They also will include studies of policy responses in relation to recognition and qualifications, access to continuing education and training, and the location and styles of learning for adults.

Assessment

An assignment totalling 4000 words or equivalent.

Prescribed Texts

A collection of appropriate readings will be prepared for students.
