Subject Description | At the completion of this subject, students should be able to: (i) apply management principles to the development of an environmental management system based on the ISO 1400 Standard for an environmental engineering project; (ii) appreciate the dynamics of small group interactions and teamwork in making presentations to, and in preparing reports (including a non-technical summary) for, senior management; and (iii) recognise the need for and practice of personnel skills ranging from making personal presentations, undertaking interviews and performance appraisals, providing good communication and managing human resources. Introduction to law, contact, tort, project delivery systems and engineering contracts, liability and intellectual property corporations law, environmental law. An introduction to systems management, systems analysis, mathematical and linear programming. |
Assessment | One written 3-hour end-of-semester examination (70%) and assignments totalling not more than 4500 words (30%). |
