325-410 Advanced Management Research

This subject will be taught in intensive mode: two or three full days of seminars in the week before semester one begins, one three-hour seminar each week for the next five weeks of semester, and possibly another full day seminar in the fourth week of semester. 325-407 Advanced Management Theory, 325-408 Management Research Essay.

This subject will provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical 'know-how' that will enable them to undertake an advanced management research project (325-408 Management Research Essay). Subject matter will include: the nature of the management research process; an introduction to the epistemology of management research; how to produce a literature review; how to design a research project; and, how to undertake quantitative and qualitative management research.

• High level of development: oral communication; written communication; problem solving; application of theory to practice; interpretation and analysis; critical thinking; synthesis of data and other information; evaluation of data and other information; accessing data and other information from a range of sources; receptiveness to alternative ideas.

• Moderate level of development: collaborative learning; team work; statistical reasoning.

A 3-hour examination (60%) and assignment(s) totalling not more than 4000 words (40%).
