Subject Description

This subject introduces students to the theory and issues associated with leadership and teamwork within a workplace.

The subject covers the areas of:

  • leading and managing;

  • leadership and your work environment;

  • what is my leadership style?

  • leaders as change agents in the workplace;

  • the benefits of teams and teamwork;

  • the ways in which teams develop and some of the barriers teams encounter when they are introduced to the workplace;

  • building better teams;

  • the differences between leadership and management;

  • tasks and issues that a team leader will need to address in order to maintain an efficient functioning team.

Assessment

The workbook (50%) and report of up to 2000 words (50%).
