Subject Description

Selected issues in contemporary epistemology and metaphysics. The focus for 2007 will be on the implications of divine rationality and goodness for God's overall providential policies; attention will be paid to the problem of evil as an objection to the existence of God.

  • be able to understand both the heart of a philosophical issue and its broader implications;

  • have learnt to form a critical understanding of philosophical texts;

  • have developed their skills to construct rigorous philosophical arguments.

Assessment

A 5000-word essay 100% (due at the end of semester).
