Subject Description | The subject examines current issues of debate that arise with the new genetics and related technologies. A range of different case studies will be examined and selected theoretical concepts will be introduced through which the issues raised by the case studies will be analysed. Cases studies may include genetic testing, stem cell research and human cloning, animal to human transplantation, and new reproductive technologies. Students undertaking the subject should develop a sound understanding of several case studies, the issues of debate that arise in relation to them and a working knowledge of some theoretical concepts that are useful for analysing the issues raised. |
