126-214 Introduction to Old Church Slavonic

Contact	Two 1-hour lectures and a 1-hour tutorial per week
Subject Description	This subject introduces students to the earliest written language of the Slavs, Old Church Slavonic. It gives an introduction to its historical phonology, morphology and syntax. Extensive use of Old Church Slavonic texts will be made.
Generic Skills	Be able to study independently Be able to apply theoretical knowledge for practical purposes Be able to commit to memory large amounts of information Be able to understand and use more effectively the structure of their own language
Assessment	Regular assignments during the semester totalling 3000 words (50%) and a one-hour exam at the end of the semester (50%).
