Subject Description

This subject involves a more detailed study of Russian grammar and formal grammar exercises. By the end of the subject, students should demonstrate a good knowledge of the basic grammatical system; show an active or passive knowledge of the relevant vocabulary from the textbook and texts; and translate from Russian into English simpler texts without a dictionary and texts of medium difficulty with the help of a dictionary.

  • be able to commit to memory large amounts of information;

  • be able to understand and use more effectively the structure of their own language.

Assessment

A 1.5-hour exam 75% (at the end of semester) and a mid-semester test 25%.
