Subject Description

This subject builds on skills acquired in 126-145 Beginners Swedish B and focuses on the further development of reading and writing skills. Students will extend their vocabulary and increase their ability to apply basic grammatical principles in writing and will further develop their understanding of the structure of Swedish. In addition, students will develop a basic understanding of formal and colloquial registers of Swedish and their contextual use.

Generic Skills

  • have further developed reading and writing skills;

  • be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

Assessment

A 2-hour written examination 50% (end of the semester), weekly assignments totalling 1000 words 20% (throughout the semester), and a 1-hour mid-term test 30% (during the semester).
