126-005 Intermediate German A or equivalent.

This subject uses authentic written and audio-visual texts to expand students' ability to understand, speak and write German. If proceeding to German at second-year level, students should achieve the level of competency required for admittance into 126-017 German 2 (Core) A and 126-015 German 2B. If proceeding to German at third-year level, students should achieve the level of competency required for admittance into 126-006 German 3 Intermediate (Core) A and 126-021 German 3 Intermediate B or 126-018 German 3 (Core) A and 126-019 German 3B.

• be able to express themselves in a variety of contexts;

• be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

A 2-hour examination 40%, two aural tests equivalent to 500 words 15%, an oral test equivalent to 500 words 15% and written work equivalent to 1000 words (30%).
