Students of the Diploma of Modern Languages (Italian) need to enrol also in 116-228 The Story of Italian: Study Abroad and cannot enrol in 131-272 Venice and Cultures of Consumption and 131-273 'La Serenissima': The Myth of Venice toward their Diploma. |

Subject Description | This intensive four week study abroad subject will be taught in Venice and provides a comprehensive introduction to contemporary Italian. Language classes will gradually familiarise the students with the structures, rules and skills necessary to communicate in Italian. By the end of the course, students will have developed oral and written skills that will enable them to achieve a basic level of competency in Italian. |

Assessment | A mid-course language test 1.5 hours 30%, one 10 minute oral test 20% (at the end of the course) and one 2 hour written exam 50% (at the end of the course). |
Prescribed Texts | A subject reader will be available from the Bookshop 3 weeks before the beginning of the Overseas Intensive. |
