Students who have completed 922-212 or 922-214 La Trobe - Spanish Beginners 2B are not eligible to enrol in this subject. This subject is taught by the School of Languages and Linguistics at the University of Melbourne.

116-220 Intermediate Spanish A and 116-221 Intermediate Spanish C.

116-222 Intermediate Spanish B.

In this course, students will be introduced to some important political and cultural revolutions in Latin America and Spain. Topics studied range from 20th century Afro-Cuban poetry to ETA, the Basque terrorist group in Spain.

• to increase knowledge of the Hispanic world through study of political and cultural evolutions;

• to develop reading skills in literary Spanish;

Three pieces of written homework (due throughout semester), a 15 minutes oral presentation (due during semester) and five mini quizzes - totalling 50%, and two 1-hour written exams of 500 words 50% (due mid-semester and at the end of the semester).
