Subject Description | This is an intensive language subject for beginners, with a focus on the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and an introduction to French culture through the materials used for language acquisition. Students successfully completing the subject should be able to read simple French, and write accurately, make sense of and participate in a variety of communicative situations presented in French, within the limits of the vocabulary and tenses introduced in the course. |

Assessment | Written work and class tests 40% (due throughout semester), a 2-hour exam 30% (due in exam period), two 15-minute listening comprehension tests 15% (due during semester) and a 10-minute oral exam 15% (due in week 10), and a hurdle requirement of 80% attendance. |
