116-025 Special Study Program

Students cannot enrol without prior authorisation from the subject coordinator. Students must seek permission to enrol at least two weeks before the beginning of semester.

116-133 French I: Language B or equivalent. Students must seek approval to enrol in this subject from the subject coordinator.

This study program is to be designed by students in collaboration with the coordinator. Students who complete this subject should be able to demonstrate mastery of a particular area of French cultural or linguistic studies and report on their work in a manner appropriate to the methodology adopted.

• Critical thinking and analysis: through required and recommended reading, essay writing and tutorial discussion, and by assessing the strength of arguments;

• Understanding of social, political, historical and cultural contexts and international awareness/openness to the world: through the contextualisation of judgements and knowledge, developing a critical self-awareness, being open to new ideas and new aspects of French and Italian culture, and by formulating arguments;

• Communicating knowledge intelligibly and economically: through essay and assignment writing, tutorial discussion and class presentations.

Written work totalling 4000 words or equivalent 100% (commencing at the beginning of semester and due at the end of the subject).
