Subject Description | This subject gives an introduction to Malaysian culture, history, politics and society. It also provides students with an introduction to Malaysian Malay and teaches them how it differs from standard Indonesian. Students should become familiar with the Arabic-derived Jawi script. |

Assessment | Two assignments of 1000 words 30% (due mid-semester and late in semester), two 30-minute class presentations 20% (due early in semester and late in semester), a 1.5-hour written examination 40% (due during the examination period) and class participation throughout the semester 10%. |
