Subject Description

In this subject students continue to develop their ability to participate in sophisticated interactions in Indonesian about social, political, ethnic and gender, cultural, and historical phenomena as they affect Indonesia and the world. Students will work with a variety of text types and other Indonesian media and present research project results in class.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

For 3rd year: Two essays of 750 words each 20% (due mid-semester and at the end of semester), a 10-minute oral examination 30% and a 2-hour written final examination 40% (due during the examination period), and class participation 10%. For 4th year: Two essays of 1000 words each 20% (due mid-semester and at the end of semester), a 10-minute oral examination 40% and a 2-hour written final examination 40% (due during the examination period).
