Formerly available as 110-021. Students who have completed 110-021 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

110-410 Arabic 4A or 110-411 Arabic 4B or equivalent.

This is a reading subject for students who have completed 110-410 Arabic 4A or 110-411 Arabic 4B or equivalent. Readings will be selected in consultation with the student in the first week of the semester and should be completed in line with the guidelines provided to the student. Focus will be on one area of Arabic studies: literature. Students enrolling in this subject should be able to undertake a small-scale research project in Arabic literature and present the findings in a scholarly manner.

• acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

• show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

• acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations;

• acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion.

An essay of 5000 words 100% (due at the end of semester).

Readings are selected in consultation with the student.
