Subject Description

This is an in-country language subject, to be held at a university in China in Semester 1. The subject provides an in-country alternative to third-year language study in Chinese for well-qualified students. Both in terms of total contact hours and language learning, this subject is the equivalent of a full year on campus at Melbourne, and a pass in this subject will qualify students for entry to appropriate fourth-year language subjects. Subject components will cover all aspects of third-year language work, including listening comprehension, advanced oral work, composition, and readings in modern and pre-modern Chinese. Assessment will be conducted in part by host university staff (continuous assessment) and by staff of the Chinese program after the students return.
