Subject Description

In this subject students will learn to interact and express themselves in spoken Arabic, both in formal and informal situations. A range of topics appropriate for day-to-day conversation in Arabic will be covered. This subject complements work in 110-170 Arabic 1A. It reinforces grammar and vocabulary learned in that subject.

Generic Skills

  • written communication through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • time management and planning through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • public speaking through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

A 15-minute aural/oral test 25% (mid-semester), a 15-minute aural/oral test 25% (in week 9) and a 30 minute aural/oral test 50% (during the examination period).
