Subject Description

This is an intensive subject continuing development of the ability to speak, read, write and understand Indonesian begun in 110-165 Indonesian Level 1A. Students should achieve a basic communicative competence in Indonesian; and have developed a sound basis in grammar and vocabulary for further Indonesian language study.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

Written work and class tests totalling 1500 words 60% (throughout the semester), a 2-hour written examination 30% and a short oral examination 10% (due during the examination period). Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
