Subject Description

This is an intensive subject for beginners developing the skills necessary to speak, read, write and understand Indonesian. Learning basic vocabulary and sentence construction enabling students to express themselves in a limited range of everyday communicative situation.

Generic Skills

  • acquire written communication skills through essay writing and seminar discussion;

  • show attention to detail through essay preparation and writing;

  • acquire time management and planning skills through managing and organising workloads for recommended reading, essay and assignment completion;

  • acquire public speaking skills through tutorial and seminar discussion and class presentations.

Assessment

Written work and class tests totalling 1500 words 60% (throughout the semester), a 2-hour written examination 30% and a short oral examination 10% (due during the examination period). Students are required to attend a minimum of 80% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examination.
