110-144 Spoken Introductory Chinese 1A

Contact	A 1-hour language laboratory and a 1-hour tutorial per week
Subject Description	This subject is a course in elementary spoken Chinese to complement 110-143 Introductory Chinese 1A. Students will learn standard pronunciation and should develop basic listening comprehension and speaking skills on a limited range of everyday topics.
Generic Skills	develop powers of self-expression using restricted communicative resources; be able to use oral practice to gain practical command of a communicative code; be able to engage in basic forms of cross-cultural exchange.
Assessment	A 30-minute listening comprehension test 50% (due during the examination period), a 5-minute oral test 40% (due during the examination period) and class participation 10%.
