110-030 Spoken Introductory Chinese 2B

110-028 Introductory Chinese 2A and 110-130 Spoken Introductory Chinese 2A or equivalent as determined by the coordinator. New students may not enrol unless they have attended an interview and/or taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

110-029 Introductory Chinese 2B

This is a second-level beginners course in spoken Chinese to complement 110-029 Introductory Chinese 2B. Students at the end of this course should have sufficient listening and speaking skills to cope with everyday situations in China.

• acquire an increased complexity of communication by deploying basic knowledge of structure in more elaborated form, while adding new structural patterns;

• be able to deploy repetition and emulation as intellectual disciplines to acquire practical understanding of a complex communicative structure;

• be able to use oral and listening skills to function practically in a cross-cultural environment.

An ongoing class participation 10%, a 30-minute listening comprehension test 40% (during the examination period) and a 10-minute oral test 50% (during the examination period).
