1. Overview

The Bachelor of Learning Development and Training (BLDT) is a three year undergraduate degree. The course prepares graduates for a career in learning and development, professional education, human resource development or industry training.

Learning and development professionals are employed in industries as diverse as banking and finance, law, accounting, tourism and hospitality, telecommunications, retail, registered training organisations (RTOs), superannuation, universities, TAFE institutes, management consultancies, mining and trades and government departments.

Professionals already working in the field will be able to build on their expertise, applying their enhanced knowledge to their current positions or to assist them in changing career direction. High achieving graduates have the option of completing a masters course in Training and Development.

The course is available both full time and part time and classes will be offered during the day and in the early evening to accommodate those students wishing to undertake the course part time.

3. Entry requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education or approved Year 12 equivalent with a study score of at least 25 in English (any) Units 3 and 4. For Middle Band consideration will be given to Access Melbourne applicants.

4. Credit

The course will provide credit for previous study at the appropriate level and in a relevant field and will recognise prior learning and/or experience (RPL). Successful applicants seeking recognition of current competencies can apply for credit at the time of enrolment.

Students who have previously completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are eligible to apply for entry into the second semester of year one. Those students who have successfully completed the Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems will be eligible to apply for entry into the second year of the program.

5. Concurrent diplomas

It is possible for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Learning Development and Training to also enrol in a concurrent diploma. This will normally add one year to the duration of the degree course. Prospective students should note that timetabling difficulties may arise between subjects taught in different faculties.

5.1. Diploma in Arts

Bachelor of Learning, Development and Training students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Arts offered by the Faculty of Arts. 5.2. Diploma in Creative Arts

Bachelor of Learning Development and Training students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Creative Arts offered by the Faculty of Arts. 5.3. Diploma in Information Systems

Bachelor of Learning Development and Training students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Information Systems offered by the Faculty of Science. 5.4. Diploma in Modern Languages

Bachelor of Learning Development and Training students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Modern Languages (DML) offered by the Faculty of Arts. 5.5. Diploma in Music (Practical

Bachelor of Learning Development and Training students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Music (Practical) offered by the Faculty of Music.
