Subject Description

This subject introduces global politics and globalisation through the major theoretical approaches offered by international relations. Different claims about human nature, power, war, peace, the state, society, law and politics are examined through the work of key thinkers who have exercised a major influence on our understanding of global politics and globalisation. Their claims lead to very different approaches to politics in a global context. Each approach reveals and conceals aspects of international relations, and provides instruction about actors and institutions, about events and actions, and about methods and meanings in the international relations field of study.

Assessment

Written work totalling 4000 words (100%) submitted on-line throughout the semester.
