Subject Description

Students of this subject will inquire into recent developments in poetic practice and poetics. Students will read a variety of poetic texts and recent works on poetics. The subject will also involve intensive workshopping of students' own poetry with focus on development of a distinctive voice and approach.

  • demonstrate time management, independent organization and planning;

  • communicate knowledge in oral, written and/or creative form.

Assessment

Written work equivalent to 4000 words comprising of poetry equivalent to 2000 words (25% due mid semester, 25% due end of semester), 30 minute class presentation paper of 1000 words 20% (presented as scheduled during the semester), personal poetics paper 1000 words 20% (due end of semester). Completion of workshop exercises 10% (due end of semester). 80% attendance hurdle.
