Subject Description

In this subject students will be introduced to principles of the craft of writing scripts for the screen and the history of screenwriting. Students will be required to read and respond to a variety of scripts written for or adapted to screen. They will also be required to write a short script for the screen.

Generic Skills

  • demonstrate sound and independent critical and ethical thinking in their choice of materials and processes;

  • be able to present written and oral communication to a professional standard regarding their treatment and material choices.

Assessment

Written work equivalent to 4000 words 100%, including exercises and revised pieces of writing for screen and regular attendance and participation in tutorials and workshops. Completed written work will be submitted and assessed at the end of semester. Please note that during the semester students will have opportunities to receive feedback on work in progress.
