Subject Description | In this subject, students revise the basic elements covered in semester one, continue with word formation and are introduced to more complex grammar and syntax, as well as some of the issues involved in interpreting an ancient language. Increasingly difficult texts of various genres are read, including some inscriptions of the biblical period. By the end of the subject, students should have a sufficient grasp of the language to read biblical texts with the assistance of reference works. |

Assessment | Written work totalling 2000 words. Weekly vocabulary tests 5%, weekly exercises 20%, a 5-minute oral test 10%, a mid-semester exam 30% and an end of semester exam 35%. |
