Subject Description

This subject will introduce students to key themes in contemporary debate in the philosophy of science, such as those emerging from the opposition between scientific realism and epistemological realism.

Generic Skills

  • have experience of thinking systematically about difficult intellectual problems of an abstract nature;

  • have practice conducting research, speaking and writing clearly and reading carefully.

Assessment

A 5000 word research essay 100% (due at the end of the semester).
