A 1-hour language laboratory and a 1-hour conversation class per week

Subject Description

This subject is an introduction to the Swedish language. It focuses on spoken Swedish in everyday situations, and includes listening comprehension, pronunciation and conversation. Students will acquire skills through intensive language training in the language laboratory as well as through dialogues and other conversational exercises in the classroom. On completion of the subject, students should be able to express themselves in a limited range of everyday communicative situations, and have achieved the level of competence required for admittance to 126-146 Beginners Swedish C and 126-147 Beginners Swedish D.

  • have acquired speaking and listening skills;

  • be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

Assessment

A 15-minute oral examination 50% (at the end of semester), listening and comprehension tests 25% (during semester) and vocabulary tests/oral assignments 25% (during semester).
