126-130 German 1A and 126-131 German 1B or equivalent.

This subject introduces students to important cultural, literary and linguistic aspects of the German language. Students will be given the opportunity to develop topics of interest within these general areas and will be introduced to a variety of specialized terminology within these general areas. Students should achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into 126-017 German 2 (Core) A and 126-015 German 2B.

Two 1-hour examinations 50% each (during examination period) or written work totalling 2000 words 100% (during the semester) or a 1-hour examination (during examination period) and written work of 1000 words 50% each (during the semester).
