Subject Description

In this subject students will be introduced to important cultural, literary and linguistic aspects of the German language. They will be given the opportunity to develop topics of interest within these general areas and will also be introduced to a variety of specialized terminology within these general areas. Students should achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into 126-132 German 1C and 126-133 German 1D.

Generic Skills

  • have developed written and oral communication skills as well as an understanding of the social, historical and cultural context of the topics under discussion.

Assessment

Two 1-hour written examinations 50% each (during examination period) or written work totalling 2000 words 100% (during the semester) or a 1-hour examination (during examination period) and written work of 1000 words 50% each (during the semester).
