Subject Description

This subject uses authentic written and audio-visual texts to expand students' ability to understand, speak and write German. On completion of the subject students should have attained a moderate level of complexity in speaking, aural comprehension, reading and writing of German and a level of competency required for admittance into 126-008 Intermediate German C and 126-009 Intermediate German D.

Generic Skills

  • have further developed their reading and writing skills in a foreign language;

  • be able to express themselves in a variety of contexts;

  • be able to work efficiently as a team member and have an understanding of social and cultural diversity.

Assessment

A 2-hour examination 50%, a 10-minute aural test of 500 words 15% (due at the end of semester), weekly vocabulary tests totalling 500 words 10% and written work of 1000 words 25% (due during semester).
