Subject Description

This subject explores in greater depth key aspects of French civilisation and further develops language skills in their cultural context. Students choose a mini-option on either autobiography and fiction, the classical playwright Molière, the sounds and rhythms of French, cinema or immigration. The mini-options are taught in French and in a seminar format, and are designed to allow students to pursue language study in a specific linguistic or cultural field of their choice. Regular writing activities for the options ensure development of writing skills in French in a range of genres. Discussion classes in French explore civilisation topics and enhance students' ability to participate in informed debate.
