Subject Description | In this subject students will study key aspects of Italian culture, through the analysis of literary texts and other materials. Students will also have the opportunity to study the development of Italian society. By the end of the subject, students will have been introduced to a small number of texts in order to improve their standard of comprehension and to gain some understanding of the process of cultural analysis. They should also have acquired the ability to examine critically various aspects of Italian history and culture. |

Assessment | Two assignments of 750 words each on Italy since 1945 40% (due mid-semester and at the end of semester respectively), a 750-word analysis of a poetic text 20% (due mid-semester), a 750-word class paper on short story in Italian 20% and a 1000-word class paper on plays 20% (due at the end of semester). |
